The leasehold was sold off an asking price of £549,950 to actor Quentin Jones and his partner Claudine Phelps. Quentin appeared in Hollyoaks, Family Affairs and Is Harry on the Boat? His most recent appearance was in Demon Stalker, a horror film made in the U.S. where Quentin plays a scary estate agent.  Less scary Lawrence Wright, the specialist hotel agent who arranged the sale for Sue Coughlan said “this is the third time I have sold this business in the past 25 years and I am pleased to have shown such a high quality business to Quentin as I know that through his Hollywood contacts new guests to Weymouth will come and enjoy all that the resort has to offer” More generally, Lawrence said that since the New Year a number of guest houses and catering businesses had gone under offer in Weymouth showing a renewal of confidence and realisation that the increase in business rates due next month will not affect small businesses due to their exemption from all business rates.
